MDSH Student Affairs Officer


 Under the supervision of the Director of Master of Data Science in Health (MDSH) Program, provide academic, administrative and student support for the MDSH Program. Manage the day-to-day operations of the hybrid degree program and provide a high level of customer service to MDSH students. Provide counseling to prospective students and ongoing counseling to up to 150 students. Advise applicants, students, staff, and faculty regarding University and FSPH policies and guidelines. Assist in the admission process for online applications to the MDSH program and compose letters needed for special actions.
Coordinate financial aid, registration, student petitions, tuition, parking and other student services for enrolled students. Assist with event planning and special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Work on a self-directed basis. Duties and tasks are performed with minimal supervision and at a high degree of independent decision making.

Required/Preferred

Working knowledge of University graduate student policies and procedures, e.g., University and School admissions regulations, financial aid, degree requirements, faculty advising, etc., and ability to communicate and interpret information to applicants, staff and faculty.

Excellent English verbal and written communication skills to generate effective correspondence and reports.

Demonstrated working knowledge of computer software programs, e.g., MS Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc. Working knowledge of e-mail and online calendar systems.

Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and create positive working relationships with program faculty, staff and students, as well as campus and off campus departments and organizations.

Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively multi-task; organize events and meetings; coordinate annual course schedules; compile application materials, maintain student files, develop mentoring opportunities, etc.

Ability to implement policies pertaining to master's students.

Demonstrated basic arithmetic skills to prepare reimbursement forms and accurately organize and maintain financial records. Ability to analyze, develop and produce budget spreadsheets.
