POSITION DUTIES - This position functions a Human Resources Technician in the Office of Human Resources (OHR) compiling various reports, analyzing data, designing human resource training programs and distributing communications. This position also functions as the Department's Records Manager Local Coordinator, office purchasing and PC liaison.

Experience

Human Resources Technician 7

One year of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Assistant 7; or one year equivalent to a Human Resources Customer Service Representative E8 in state service; or one year of administrative support experience equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

Human Resources Technician 8

One year of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Technician 7; or two years of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Assistant, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Assistant E8; or two years of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Customer Service Representative E8, or one year of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Customer Service Representative 9 in state service.

Human Resources Technician E9

Two years of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Technician, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Technician 8; or three years of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Assistant, including one year equivalent to a Human Resources Assistant 9; or three years of experience equivalent to a Human Resources Customer Service Representative E8, or two years equivalent to a Human Resources Customer Service Representative 9 in state service.


Alternate Education and Experience

Human Resources Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Human Resources Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Human Resources Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of human resources related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Due to Criminal Justice requirements for LEIN operators, position requires incumbent submit
fingerprints for state and federal criminal background checks; qualify for access under the criminal conviction policy per the Federal CJIS Security Policy and Michigan addendum; pass the LEIN certification test and be certified within 6 months of employment or assignment; and retest/recertify every 2 years.

Civil Service Commission Rule 2-7 requires that all newly hired state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to their actual appointment. Due to the nature of work of the Department of State, criminal and driving records will be checked. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the criminal background record checks indicate eligibility for employment.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
