Software Engineer [Austria]

 

Improve overall quality of application build and deployment as well as infrastructure. Operate interdisciplinary as the missing link between SysOps and application development through automation and optimization of processes. Enrich the development team with enhanced knowledge of deployment automation best practices
Ownership:

• Independently identify and implement the right solutions to build out and improve quality of application deployments as well as system operation and infrastructure maintenance automation.
• Technology Skills:
• Drive the design and implementation of infrastructure-, configuration- and deployment-management pipeline in alignment with the team:
• Identify automation opportunities and technical debt
• Be able to suggest and evaluate Pro's and Con's of solutions to given specification and infrastructure strategy as well as suggesting approaches and tools
• Bring capabilities to implement and maintain solutions
• Actively participate and ensure system stability, deployment automation and smooth operation of configuration management rollouts

Soft Skills:

• Able to give constructive feedback (particularly around Infrastructure decisions and their impact on system reliability)
• Excellent English communication capabilities, be able to paraphrase, explain, anticipate where to be as brief and as effective as possible vs where it is necessary to be elaborate

Responsibilities:

• Technical Product expertise with regards to system overview, infrastructure setup and automations in context of deployment, configuration management
• Knowledge transfer to Software Engineering and SysOps peers to adopt appropriate configuration and automation methodologies
• Be in contact with internal stakeholders; i.e. other developers and QA Automation Engineers
• Enforce adherence to awareness as well as procedural correctness (while following it yourself) in peers
• Capable to identify a delay in progress and suggesting actions to meet the deadline

• 2-4 years’ work experience in similar positions or University degree in IT background
• Experience in working with international teams or excellent English skills
• Well- rounded system operation, analysis and debugging capabilities in Linux as well as Cloud Native systems
• Strong knowledge of analysis approaches, configuration management and automation tools
• Docker (mandatory to have excellent understanding of building, analyzing and debugging images, their orchestration and operation of containers)
• Ansible for configuration management
• CI/CD servers & processes
• Linux and networking operation/analysis
• Scripting in variety of relevant shells/DSLs to automate CM must have examples:
• Terraform for IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
• Bash scripting
• Some understanding of development build tools like maven, npm, composer
• Strong capability to read and understand existing automations in in above tools as well as technologies which are touching points of the above
