About the Position:

The Case Manager provides and directs casework services to Better Careers students, including but not limited to intake, needs assessment, the development of case management plans, referrals to career pathways in, Welding, HVAC and Class A Truck Driving.

Salary Range: $20-$24/hr

What You Will Do:

  • Provide Case Management, job development and job placement to students.
  • Conduct initial screening, intake, and assessments for all potential Better Career students.
  • Prepare, review, and update Individual Employment Plans (IEP) for participants assigned to caseload.
  • Develop and monitor the participant's progress relative to their IEP through all phases of the program.
  • Document all progress and all services provided in the participants' files (including employment effort/status, case conference results, and referral services).
  • Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies, as necessary.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships training vendors (HVAC, Welding and Class A Truck Driving).
  • Maintain comprehensive case records and accurate statistical information for participants and services, including all of the required elements of the IEP.
  • Provide intake screening for participants that shall include right to work status.
  • Attend workshops, meetings, and training as requested by the supervisor.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related field; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years’ experience working with the criminal justice or related population.
  • Experience with counseling justice involved individuals in a prison or similar setting.
  • Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of long-term incarceration; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of incarceration.
  • Recognition of the importance of individual differences created by personalities, cultures, lifestyles, social networks, and other factors that influence behavior.
  • Operational knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks with multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the community and within the organization.
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participant.
  • Participate in community-building activities as appropriate to the position.
  • Protect program participants' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
