LPN for a busy OB/GYN clinic to support the providers. Duties include rooming patients, vital signs, obtaining medical history and nursing assessment. Other duties ! include assisting with procedures, giving injections, telephone triage and patient education. Occasional travel to Outreach clinics required. The right person must be self motivated, flexible and a team player. 1 to 2 years OB/GYN or clinic experience preferred with excellent computer skills.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Coordinator and/or Clinic Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works in collaboration with the physician/provider to coordinate the flow of patients through the providers’ offices. Ensuring appropriate patient confidentiality, the LPN assists with medical procedures and performs general duties for the physician/provider according to established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs LPN nursing duties, which may include but are not limited to: taking vital signs, performing screening processes according to criteria and interviewing patients. Communicates fin! dings verbally to the physician/clinic provider and documents ! all pertinent and required information in the patient’s written or electronic medical record.
  • Assists the provider with in-office procedures, administers medications or vaccines and performs dressing changes and patient education as instructed. Laboratory procedures are collected and processed according to CLIA regulations, as ordered by the provider. Prepares rooms, supplies, instruments and equipment for needed patient care. Assures written or electronic documentation of all patient care and treatment.
  • Monitors, orders and processes supplies, medications, samples, etc. to assure accurate and adequate inventory, documentation and record keeping. Communicates accurate and timely information to other staff regarding needed supplies or ordering.
  • Under physician direction, provides phone triage of patients, evaluates and completes Insurance Pre-Authorization for specific tests and procedures and works closely with case managers and third party paye! rs to assure Provider orders for patient care are completed in a timely manner. Dependent upon the clinic, the triage function may be a greater or lesser element of the position as established by the Nurse or Office Manager. Evaluates need for patient medication assistance and assists with application as appropriate.
  • Assists with non-clinical functions as needed; such as scheduling appointments, completion of charges/charge tickets and other office duties as appropriate.
  • Contributes to quality of patient care by following standards, policies, QI protocols and participation in quality audits. Maintains competency in skills and procedures as well as assists with the orientation and education of new staff to assure their competency levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed as Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nebraska without restriction required! .
  • Two plus years physician office experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Maintains current clinical knowledge and skills through professional journals, in-services, conferences, workshops and/or seminars.
  • Attends and participates in approved/requested committees and meetings.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written communication skills in multiple relationships with a variety of cultural and social backgrounds.
