JOB SUMMARY

Working under the general supervision of the Physician(s), the Mid-Level Provider 3 is responsible f! or assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management while maintaining safety and quality of care practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing medical examinations and studying medical histories using standard medical procedures as part of the integrated care team.
  • Identifies short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed, providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
  • Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans
  • Prescribes medications within scope of practice as needed. Demonstrates a working knowledge of medications, with their i! ndications, contraindications, dosing, side effects and correc! t administration
  • Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations and establish a leadership role in an emergency
  • Institutes emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, convulsions, poisoning and emergency obstetric delivery.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections (including children) and immunizations; suturing; splinting, casting, managing wounds and infections.
  • Educates patients and/or families as to the nature of disease, provides instruction on proper care, self-management and treatment, and works with patient to develop an individualized care plan
  • Observes, assesses and records symptoms, reactions and progress in patient charts and/or Electronic Health Record (EHR) as required
  • Demonstrates knowledge of primary care principles and practice protocols
  • Demonstrates kno! wledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues and approaches in area of expertise
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards
  • Supervises and trains employees, which includes organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments
  • Follows practice policy in responding to patient communications
  • Maintains current CPR and other certification and is aware of related accreditation and certification requirements
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality, and treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Complies with federal, state, a! nd local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and n! ew legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Participates in call coverage as needed
